Shinko is born from the fusion between the traditional and the modern.
It literally means “new-old” in Japanese and it is around this concept that the brand revolves.
It is no coincidence that I chose Japan as my inspiration. Japanese steel is the best for making professional hairdressing scissors. Specifically, the steel from the Seki region.
I've been researching so much about steels, techniques, history and so on that 100% had to be the word that made sense of it all.
Ever since I can remember, hairdressing has been a part of my life.
My mother is a hairdresser. My father is a salesman.
And yet, I decided to dedicate myself to the digital world.
What does this have to do with Shinko, with hairdressing scissors?
Well, you'll see.
I come from the digital world where everything evolves, everything goes very fast. It changes. It reinvents itself. Different things are always coming out.
However, I have been learning about hairdressing all my life. Training and gaining experience. Watching my parents, their colleagues. Working with them.
I have seen how big companies work from within.
And you know what's different about them? Nothing.
NOTHING .
Each one has its own philosophy. Its values. Higher or lower prices. More or less products. Its things in general.
Nobody creates a product that doesn't work. But that doesn't mean they're different from each other. You just have to identify with them or be excited to belong to that community.
You may not even feel part of anything.
But I don't want to be part of that. I love the industry, but if I did something it had to be different.
That's why I created Shinko: new-old. Taking and learning from everything that has been done so far and changing it.
Using the experience of my parents, of the sector, of all this time observing and learning to have a brand that is more than a brand.
A brand that you identify with, that makes you feel proud to have Shinko because its values are yours. A brand that understands you as a professional.
Shinko is a street brand, born from visiting hair salons, studying a lot and listening twice as much.
Without support behind, without being multinational, just wanting to contribute something new, different and unique that helps the sector grow from another perspective.
That's why I thought of "The power of steel in your hands" as a slogan. Because the power that you give to scissors to make art, the power that Shinko gives to you as a professional, as a businessman and as a person, is a power that you have in your hands and it is up to you to take advantage of it to get the most out of your potential.
I created Shinko because I believe in doing things differently. I believe in you, in me, in my family.
I believe in the power and energy of young people who want to change things for the better and I believe in giving hairdressers back the value they deserve.
